Did you know that 85% of Macedonia’s territory is covered in mountains? This makes this small country the second most mountainous globally. Macedonia also has 34 mountaintops above 2,000 meters.

Macedonia is one of the oldest inhabited regions in Europe. Humans have lived on the territory of what is today Macedonia for 7,000 years. However, the first traces of organized cities date back to 808 B.C., when the dynasty of the Argeads controlled this area.
