      Salute is a common greeting in Corsica. We present to you some interesting information about Corsica.

      Corsican is a Romance language constituted by the complexity of the Italo-Romance dialects spoken on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. About 150,000 people speak in Corsican according to studies.

      Here are some of the interesting facts about the people of Corsica:

      1. Corsica is famous for beautiful sandy beaches, with crystal clear, turquoise blue waters. Some of our favorites include Calvi and Loto in the north and Palombaggia and Pinarello in the south.

      2. Did you know that Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Ajaccio (Ajax), one of Corsica’s main towns? He was born into a wealthy family and at the age of nine, he was packed off to military school near Troyes in northern France.

      1. Corsica has some 1,000km of coastline and a third of this is beaches.

      2. Lariccio pine trees, known as Corsican pines, are unique to the island. There is evidence of some trees being 500 years old.

      1. Traditional Corsican food specialities include Brocciu (cheese), Figatellu (pork), Fiadone (cheese cake) and Miel (honey).

      2. The many Genoese bridges of Corsica are a popular visitor attraction.
        They are stone-built and characterized by a humped arc and a narrow roadway.

      3. Calanches de Piana is part of the regional park and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site
