Moissanite is commonly mistaken for a diamond because of its similar appearance. So, what is Moissanite, and how is it different from diamonds? They have several properties in common: they are both beautiful, hard and brilliant. However, there is one key difference: Moissanite Earrings do not contain nitrogen (they are nitrogen-free), while diamonds contain more than 12% nitrogen. The carbon atoms that makeup Moissanites form a structure called cubic zirconia or CZ—the same crystal structure as cubic zirconia—which makes them non-reactive to human skin.
