Plywood is a constructed wood made from thin lacquer sheets (too called handles, thus the title). To create a cross-grain pattern, the sheets are adhered together by switching out the correct locations. The board's crisscross design gives the fabric quality and solidity. This makes a difference in preventing warping and shrinkage of the furniture in the face of humidity or temperature changes.
