The primary health care model was approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the foundation for efficient health service delivery. Incorporating five different forms of care—promotional, preventative, curative, rehabilitative, and supportive—the primary health care approach is both a philosophy of health care and a method for delivering health services. Primary health care is based on the tenets of accessibility, public involvement, health promotion, suitable technology, and cross-sectoral collaboration.
