GMAT is a commonly used criterion by many business schools for securing admission to a graduate business course such as MBA. This is a computer adaptive test of English Language and Mathematical skills of the candidates. A group of nine business schools formed an organization, now known as Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) in 1953 to develop a standardized test to help the admission process to their schools. The test was used by 54 schools at the time and today more than 1,500 business schools use the test as one of their admission criterions.
