@thatguythere202 Yeah 10/10 was just a shot in the dark. But something, just an idea.

How about we nominate a few trusted, sane, regular players as lobby mods? They could have the power to zap/mute abusive, offensive, disruptive people for a set period, say 10 minutes, an hour etc. This kind of thing is pretty common on some sites.

@dan-mitchell good idea Dan, sorry I can only upvote this once! Cheers.
-
@dan-mitchell sorry i find this pathetically funny. People should be able control themselves
-
@dan-mitchell good luck finding moderators whom everyone considers neutral! I was accused recently of "condoning cheating," so I guess I am out
-
@thatguythere202 there are only several that chat in the lobby the rest do not say a word..any of those probably do not even see chat because what they see disgusts them. Most of the very few that do chat in the lobby show they are not moderator material
-
@mapmakere did not mention it is you and your friends that take up the chat..kind of block everyone else so why would you limit?
-
@betterlate1-0 That's called 'conversation.' In my OP, my suggestion was not to limit chat per se, but to limit the number of posts in a given time period.
And yes, you did mention it. -
Upon reflection, the mod idea would probably be too inconsistent and divisive. A happy medium could be the ability to temporarily and easily mute chat from individuals from within the lobby chat itself. Perhaps a small mute/mic icon next to someone's name, then a mute list tab where we could undo it. Mute list could potentially be cleared if we refresh or log in again so it would be less permanent and quicker than a full censor (and give the disruptive people an incentive to change their behavior). That way we can easily silence those loons who blaze in and spam off-topic nonsense in caps for half an hour. Or just people whose chat you'd rather not read for whatever reasons. This form of easy filtering would help encourage and maintain the regular, respectful flow of chat. People might think twice before misbehaving for fear of getting zapped.

@dan-mitchell I could live with that.

conversation is interactive..not one person taking over..so if want conversation and want to limit it use your pm is my thought. In forum I try to limit my posts to whatever about lexulous, but a few of you do not allow that..from me
-
@betterlate1-0 Can't do that when it's a group of 4-5 as is often the case.
-
@mapmakere Yes, might be a slightly better way to do it. I edited my above post with a bit more detail. Not saying it's the perfect solution but it's good to throw ideas around. Wonder how admins would feel about it.
-
@mapmakere I know it is the same 4 or 5 always your pals and .also the ones downvote..the intent is to take over chat seen to much to think it could be any other way. Why would you want to stop others from chatting?
-
@betterlate1-0 remember I can see names of those who downvote and it is always the same few who harass me who downvote ...everyone entitled to their opinions and downvotes are not a problem..it is the why of it and it is always same ones
