Data packets going to porn sites
-
@player_one our engineers would need access to your vpn logs and your device to test. At this stage you should contact Google Play Store with your findings in detail. They should have more information.
-
@betterlate1 Yeah sadly it's still happening. Don't know how to attach a screenshot into the forum, but I've just seen another 2 porn sites appear. But clearing the cache was worth a shot, cheers.
-
@lexulous I have reported it to Google Play store, but sadly not had a reply so not sure what else we can do. Uninstalling seems severe, but there's clearly something going wrong somewhere.
It's happening via mobile data and wireless, to 3 devices, so not likely a 'man in the middle' injection and it happens despite the version being run.
Clearing the cache didn't do anything.
Do you have a log of traffic between my devices and the lexulous servers? -
@player_one we do not have such logs. Our team tested from VPNs in different countries and could not replicate this. Sorry we cannot be of further help in this matter. If you have doubts the prudent step would be to uninstall.

@player_one

@player_one sorry
-
@betterlate1 No worries, we'll get there... Just need to find someone else with tech ability to install a VPN...
Cheers for your input though. -
@player_one Here's an example of the sites contacted.
-
@player_one These screenshots are not helpful to anyone. They also do not show how the sites are linked with the Lexulous app. Once again requesting you to take your complaint to Google so that you may get the proper resolution.
-
@lexulous I respectfully disagree. They are helpful in several ways. Firstly they prove that there is communication between the app and the websites. They also demonstrate the quantity of communications made (this may be the cause of the level of data used). It also serves to show others what is happening in case they themselves wish to check to see if this is also happening on their devices.
-
@player_one How do you determine it is from the Lexulous app from the screenshot?
-
@player_one Based only on your message we have investigated and did not find any problems in the Lexulous code that would connect to websites that you mention.
Please note that there are a lot of different aspects which may cause such issues including whether your devices & networks are compromised, source of installing the apps, behaviour of other apps on your device etc.
We have also recommended that you write directly to Google Play Store support so that they may investigate it with you and figure out the problem. If they are not responding, please get in touch with them again. They have data from across all devices to help you resolve this. In any case they monitor applications for malicious activity & automatically flag them.
As of now it is a wild goose chase for us & other users.
This topic stands closed until we get information from Google about such activity linked to Lexulous.

Good afternoon.
I have recently discovered that a huge amount of data is being used by this app and wanted to find out if other users have also experienced the same issue.
-
As I'm not satisfied with the way my issue has been dropped and the way in which my desire to investigate it has been silenced (both posts are now locked), could I request a link to the T&C's of the forum please.
-
Have to ask..this is a new site, they have a lot to work on..why am I getting the impression you want them to drop everything and figure out your situation..maybe it is me, but I would suggest patience is a better idea than arguing
-
@betterlate1 I guess because of the risk posed by an unexpected amount of data going to, or coming from inappropriate sites via (according to my VPN) the app.
I understand the need for developers to make money by mining data where the app is free, but I do need to determine whether this is something inherent to the app, or the devices my family play it on because of that risk.
I don't want to argue with anyone, certainly not the developers, but I need to manage what I see as a risk, to myself and others.
If I can find out in which direction data is travelling and, ideally, the data that IS being sent, then I can determine if that risk is manageable.
The way I see it, if there is a problem, and it's affecting everybody, and I do nothing about it, then I am complicit.
I just want to be able to investigate the cause. Whether that's my 3 devices, my VPN or the app, I don't yet know.
-
They said they checked they cant do more..terms and conditions does not mean they invent responses or issues to please you. Why don't you take this site off your computer then try it again. Way I see it if it were affecting everyone you would see complaints and not just yours.I have VPNs and my cell and my computer..no problems. Maybe the difference is I do not go to any other sites through here. When I want to go to Amazon for example, I open another browser and I go. Maybe try using separate browsers wherever you go but start by removing this and reinstalling. Just my thoughts
-
@betterlate1 My suspicious nature leads me to not believe everything I'm told. With the content of their replies, I certainly don't feel the developers have been open and transparent in what they tell me, this is, as you suggest, possibly because they are busy.
Asking for terms and conditions was because I feel I have not been dealt with fairly. I just wanted to continue investigating an issue that was very important to me and potentially very important to other users if there is an issue. Locking my post and moving another into it felt like being silenced, so I wanted to see if this was their policy.
It's a fair assumption that most people don't run a VPN on their phones, and of the small percentage that do, how many check the logs, then of that number, how many play Lexulous. So it's probably a very small number who would identify the fault. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Which is why I want to incestigy it.
I run 3 browsers from my Android device, 2 of which clear their cache after 10 minutes of inactivity, but I play the game via the app. I don't play the App on a pc, only Android.
The only thing I have not yet tried is uninstalling. But as androids keeps remnants of the game behind, this may not fix it. But it is something to try.
Thanks for your input though. It's useful to talk to someone about it!

@player_one I have been taught on the internet to believe nothing I am told. Never used to be this cynical..however, I also can generally tell if something is real or person is genuine. Terms and conditions have nothing to do with this , you said you do not pay. Be glad you have a place to play that does not force you to pay. Just thinking again, do you have an ad blocker? Going to suggest one more thing besides removing and trying again..get an ad blocker. I use Adblock plus and have used it for years..you might want to add that. I know for a fact that works. Been 10 or 15 years been using it
