@henrryyy What does Minecraft have to do with it?
Anyway, the proposed solutions do seem to have a ring of plausibility about them; but they don't really strike at the root of the question. When two players play each other several times in a row, Lexulous automatically alternates the starting player. The concern here is that some people may be game-shopping, dropping into other people's tables where they know they will get the first move and then moving on. See earlier responses in this thread.

@thatguythere202 thank you for getting the thread back on track! I've often been refused trying to join a game, only to have the same player attempt to join my hosted game a few minutes later. Once a player knows that you regularly host, they will wait to play your hosted games. Random allocation of first play is the fairest solution, and then alternating first turns for any subsequent games played.

Who cares? Taken the effort? What does that even mean? It takes about a second to host a game

@hypersonics Why do you think first turn is such an advantage? To me it's just the opposite, which is why I host 90% of the time. You must not have a problem with scoring a bingo on the first turn and your opponent disappearing. But I do and other players do as well. Let's just leave the rules for turns the way they are.

@hypersonics I missed no points, in fact I responded with my own: Who cares? Stop making problems that don't exist.

@karen-taylor there's an obvious advantage in going first as you're likely to win the game given similar abilities and a fair distribution of tiles - it's first past the post. Players throwing the game after the first person gets a bingo is a separate issue, and one I also raised recently. Have a read through recent forum posts in this section.

@pangloss I don't see how raising a point about game play is 'making a problem'. This section of the forum is for feature requests and suggestions.

@hypersonics You've completely missed the point 🙄 But seriously, calling it "rather unfair" is making a problem. If you don't realize that what else can I say? If you're trying to make a player suggestion how about approach it this way: "Here's an idea: Make it an option when you host a game to go first or second."

Hi, when you host a game you always seem to play second. This seems rather unfair given that you have taken the effort to host the game in the first place. Is there any way of alternating this so that you get to play first sometimes if you're the host?

In many games, the order of play can have a significant impact on the outcome of the game, which is why some games use a system of alternating the starting player. One common way to do this is to have players take turns hosting the game, with the starting player determined randomly or by some other predetermined method, such as the player who won the previous game.
