Starting games

2 friends have started games with me. I cannot start games with them. Why?

I go to start game or invite friends. One friend name comes up but I cannot start a new game. The other friend who I am also playing with does not appear anywhere. I try typing in her name and my entire FB friend list appears. I click on the send link and then nothing happens
