Is it possible for your opponent to add time to their own clock during a game? If so, how are they doing it? Is it players coming in from the app?

@majorwordster-0 I've never experienced that. When did it start happening? Is it just one person doing it? Let me know who it is so I can avoid them lol.

@majorwordster-0 Are they adding time or requesting that time be added? I've never experience the former but I have seen the latter used. It used to be that the game would give you the option to agree or reject the request.

@pangloss they're adding it themselves without asking it seems.

@majorwordster-0 On a somewhat related topic, I was told today that if I have a few other tabs open while playing, it makes my opponent's clock go faster. Filed under "huh?"

@mapmakere Filed under "that's not possible unless you're somehow hacking the website or their computer." Having apps/windows/etc open on YOUR side might affect how the game performs on YOUR computer, but can't someone ooze through the internet and impact someone else's game. The game runs on each computer for that computer in that browser. That browser/computer talks to the server and vice versa. There is no "end to end" even in this game.

Got me where some people get this stuff.

@majorwordster-0 Of course! Also, I can see how it might make a timer seem to go faster if, say, I get caught up in reading something on another tab...not in reality tho!

@dan I have never seen it either but what I have seen is when lag makes it look like it adds as it catches up with itself

@mapmakere Well, yes, but again, only for the person with the tabs open. Since the person's opponent cannot see those tabs, read them, or be distracted by them, time would proceed normally for them. So there's no psychological or technological reason why tabs would cause one's opponent's time to speed up (or slow down or anything).

@betterlate1-0 Good point. That's one possible explanation.

@majorwordster-0 There are several places to play. For example, I play on my Android phone. One can also play on a desktop, tablet, etc. in other operating systems.

@majorwordster-0 I just logged in to a game on my browse (windows). I can add time to my opponent, but it doesn't seem possible to add to myself OR request it. I guess I could request it in the chat and then my opponent could add....
