Is Lexulous closing permanently?

I keep getting a pop-up saying that Lexulous is "going away" on September 30th. Is this permanent, is there some type of replacement planned?

I do not understand if and why Lexulous is 'leaving'?? Is it just no longer going to be free? I hope that is NOT the case, because I do not play games that cost money.
