Pro Players

Wasn't there a thread about this recently? Plenty of 'pro' players used to quit. Quitting as we knew it previously is no longer a thing, and all games are settled there and then. Seems now that if your opponent goes offline, you're awarded the win immediately. And if they leave the page, close the tab or log out but remain online, their time will run down as usual until you're awarded the win (or until they chose to return). The worse it gets now is people not playing as quickly as you'd like, or deleting the game before the first move (perhaps that's what you're referring to), but that's their prerogative. Big thanks to the developers for eliminating the old 'stored in email' and 'stored' aspects. New system is a lot more efficient and effectively discourages and eliminates quitting.

@dan-mitchell There was a thread.. but that thread has nothing to do with this. I am one of the people here who played years ago and the no quitter players were a joy. They finished games. If a no quitter played we adjourned if something came up and finished later.. All I want to know is who are the pro players so I can choose to play them and finish the games . This means somewhere there must be a way to identify them. But where?

@betterlate1-0 Morning. I guess it's subjective. In my experience, the ones who had the badge didn't always have as much integrity as it suggested. It certainly didn't (and couldn't) guarantee that they wouldn't quit, or that they'd agree to resume a stored game (or even finish an email game). I suppose they could bring the pro badge back though, at the very least to signify that you're a supporting member.

@dan-mitchell Morning, when they changed the no quitter badge to show support, is when quitters took advantage of the no quitter badge to quit.

@betterlate1-0 Well, it's something for admins to think about I guess. The thing I'd implement would be not allowing someone to delete the game before their first move if their opponent has played a bingo. I know it's not exactly what you're talking about, but it's the main flaw I see in the current system. I don't see the need to worry about quitters now. I'll give you an example. I played that (previously) notorious quitter 'johnmel'. Was beating him nicely, and guess what? He didn't go offline, he didn't let the clock run down, he actually had the courtesy to resign now. And even if he didn't, his old tactics of quitting every game he was losing heavily wouldn't have worked. Guess he knows that now, and is showing a little class at last. A much better system all round IMO.
PS: Apologies for edits, still trying to wake up.

@dan-mitchell I know what you mean. I am totally in favor of giving a player a substantial penalty if they quit when ops first turn was a bingo. Why apologize for edits?

@betterlate1-0 "Quitters getting worse" since Anagramgate? When you posted a photo that included your anagrammer besides the game?

@joyfulhorse you forget that that was theree to show brit words and I only play USA nice try..gees how many names do you have? Sounds like joyfully full of horse

@joyfulhorse btw nice try at diversionary tactics
-
@joyfulhorse you must feel so inferior in every name that your focus is on me and what you imagine trying to denigrate me. Maybe you should work on you ..then you can put all your names into one person and you wont need to hide or focus...do feel sorry for you
-
@joyfulhorse .terrijay do you remember why you were sorta forced to take that picture down? It showed Brit dic not USA and made a fool of you. but with your fixation on me you always make a fool of you

Sitters are worse than both quitters and cheaters. But then again, cheaters stink too. But I still think imma go with sitters. Thank you for conducting this survey.

@dan-mitchell yes!! Or people who just join your table and dont make a move on purpose to be rude. They know the game will be deleted, so no rating points lost. Some people must find that humorous.
