@sakamvari This post unfortunately says little or nothing about the unique Basque language (unrelated to any other European language, with its origins still completely obscure). Knowing how to say "hello" is I guess valuable... but there is much more that could be said!

@thatguythere202 It may be gaining popularlity elsewhere, Guy. A young friend of mine was reading Harry Potter in Basque a few years ago.

@mapmakere Interesting! But it doesn't help clear up the mystery of the language's origins. It's apparently one of those "isolates."

@thatguythere202 Also, what Franco did to the area! That resulted in Picasso's immortal "Guernica".

@mapmakere That's amazing. When I visited there several years ago to visit the Getty Museum, was told that it is the only place on earth and the origins were unknown. But history may have revealed more since that time.

@maggie2moo afraid I didn't make that very clear...was trying to say that the language spoken in the Basque region is unique and not found anywhere else on earth.

@maggie2moo Actually, we were talking about the museum. It's the Guggenheim in Bilbao, not the Getty. But why quibble?
