What dictionary is being used?
-
Hi my family have been using Lexulous to play over the last couple of days. We are curious what dictionary is being used for UK English as we aren't too happy at some of the words it's allowing through. (e.g. Jedi, which we all feel should be a proper noun, and fice, which it said was a southern US word and certainly doesn't appear in any of the UK English dictionaries we have available). Would therefore be nice to know what the source actually is?

@fiona-smith thank you for writing in. currently we are using a standard dictionary. In case if you feel there are certain words that should have been added or removed, you can suggest them through this link: https://forum.lexulous.com/topic/30/recommend-addition-removal-of-words?_=1655876305358

@fiona-smith The dictionaries on here are full of obscure words and a few errors. You might have a look in the Collins dictionary. For instance, about "jedi," it says:
"jedi in British English
NOUN
a person who claims to live according to a philosophy based on that of the fictional Jedi, a caste of wizards in the Star Wars series of films by George Lucas, US film director"
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/jedi(I'm amused that it says jedi was popular in the 1700s!)
