Why do games end after 3 passes by same person

@betterlate1-0 Because some people tend to keeping passing when the game is of shorter time duration just to make the opp default on time.

@lexulous I appreciate the intent here... but when one plays short-timer games (2/0 or 2/1, as I do), speed is an essential element of the game. In a tight situation at the end of the game, passing quickly seems acceptable to me; I've won games that way and also lost them. So I would prefer not to have this three-pass-max for one player rule. Just my own opinion, of course.
