    • RE: Recommend addition/removal of words

      @zoso-thezephead That's true. When the word is lowercased, it can have a derogatory meaning: to "jew" someone is to be extremely selfish in a financial transaction, tapping into the racist trope that Jews are, as a race, venal and primarily concerned with making money, perhaps taking advantage.

      I note that "fag" is not allowed here, even though it can mean "cigarette." So, I see inconsistency in allowing one pejorative term (lowercase "jew") but not another (fag > homosexual).

    • Sorting a topic from Newest to Oldest doesn't work.

      Sorting is a really basic feature. Could you fix it?

      Also, in the Home menu, Suggesting Words/Removing Words is not shown Under what submenu is that topic listed, please?

      Thanks. Been enjoying Lex 10+ years now.

    • RE: passing or swapping

      @dan-mitchell Dan, I realize that confirming a pass steals precious time in short games, but the real issue is that the Pass button is and always has been too close to the Swap button. Too easy to make a mistake!

      Just put more space between the Pass button and the Swap. Then the fancy
      confirm-pass window—which is a bit of overkill (sorry Lex designer!)—won't be so needed.

    • RE: Delete some i's!

      @betterlate1-0 yay, free advice!

      Upon reflection, I realize it's not too many i's, it's that they come in clumps.

    • Restore spacebar shuffle

      Please restore this fundamental tool for long-time users who like to play shorter games.

      When your Lex beta first appeared, the spacebar (keyboard) shuffle only worked if I first clicked the shuffle icon. Clicking anywhere else deactivated the keyboard shuffle, requiring another click to reactivate that feature.

      Having to activate/reactivate spacebar shuffle with clicks just doesn't work well during short game times.

      I'm on a desktop computer. Mac OS, Chrome; all update automatically.

      Thanks, Suzanne

    • RE: How's ranking work?!

      @betterlate1 I've been here 10 yrs, so I realize how rankings work in general. But when one has played a lot of games, it takes more to move the needle.

    • RE: Move strength algorithm

      It seems to me that this game isn't good at randomizing letter distribution. Bingo words are very often in the first rack, which leads me to think that the game relies on throwing out whole words, not truly random tiles. Very often, certain letters come in clumps, such as UUU (yesterday), or EEEE (too many times to count).

      Many players make 2 or 3 bingos in a game, which is just plain not random.

      What say you, Lex?

    • RE: Move strength algorithm

      @b-birney

      I think ZA is a better move here than ZAG, because it limits the opponent's options to just two: zaS or zaG. I might very well go with ZA, holding back the G for my next play, which could be used for gASH or zaG.

    • Delete some i's!

      I hate the letter i—especially when there are 4 or 5 in my first rack. This got me thinking.

      Did you know that the frequency of the letter i in the English language (Oxford Concise Dictionary, 1995) is just 7.5%?

      I propose that Lexulous has too many i's (as a percentage of the total), and 2 of them should be removed.

      Who's with me? 🙂
