Since there is no category that I see for commentary I guess this category will do as well as any. I suppose that many of the people who play word games are logophiles like myself. So, this is for those of you using V2 and getting the definitions of accepted words as a trailer to your screen of the game you are on. When, instead of a definition you just get a notice of "- This word is acceptable for play in the US & UK dictionaries." or similar wording do you have a specific thought on that, before you look for the word in an aggregate of dictionaries? What is your thought?

@jrp32 I play v2 on a laptope, chrome, win10. I dont get that msg but the dictionary tab often says "Definition not available." It's not a great dictionary in the game itself.
If it's something Im curious about, I go to the OED online.

@mapmakere You get that alternative message for undefined words when you view a completed game under stats or during an email game.

@jrp32 It's kinda annoying. I assume a lot of them are words that have been added to the dictionaries relatively recently, so while it can tell that the word is valid, the source they're using for definitions is outdated. Let's remember that the previous version didn't have definitions at all, so while v2 isn't perfect, it's still an improvement.

I'm not sure I understand what you are looking for?

The words that often really amuse me are the ones the analysis tool says I or my opp missed! For instance, the other day it said we missed "zaptieh!" I'm pretty sure I've never seen that word before. (It's a Turkish policeman.)

@dan If I am understanding this, I also get that message during game if I look up the definition. I would imagine everyone does unless some sort of extenuating circumstances

@dan, not exactly, you will notice that the word with that message in my example to mapmakre is "LIONHEAD" I just happen to have known that one for years -- it's a cichlid, or goldfish variety. Also in my original message, i referred to "an aggregate of dictionaries". That is in light blue (i think) and contains a link to an aggregate of about 400 (i last saw) general and specialty dictionaries. Searching for the word, that aggregate points to numerous (about 6) dictionaries with entries for Lionhead. What the message most often seems to mean is that the Collins doesn't have the word defined.

@jrp32 You're right, it's a pretty established word. Also a type of rabbit apparently. Not sure why it can't pull a definition from somewhere. Collins has an entry for it.

@dan I think the obvious answer is that it's fairly easy for the site to get a wordlist for the games but expensive to get a real, good dictionary with definitions. I googled one of lex's weird definitions once and it matched some mediocre (presumably free) dictionary, I forget the name.
