I've been complaining about these 'travelogue' posts for a while, thus:

"Please make a new CATEGORY for these posts (they are not original, that is to say, not "creative" as such). For example:
      LANGUAGES AROUND THE WORLD
      WORLDWIDE WORDS
      MISCELLANEOUS."(7 September)

"Apart from anything else, members no longer see any threads other than these travelogues when they try to see what others are thinking or their replies." (6 September)
      https://forum.lexulous.com/topic/816/johm-riab-sua-hello-in-khmer/1

"This is forum for Lexulous members and not a place for your private blog. Neither is it original material and, as such, it may be denominated as spam." (3 September)

I realise that some members enjoy the 'travelogues' which is why I suggested having a new CATEGORY (see my other post).

As it is, the 'travelogues' are dominating the forums to the extent that discussions/requests are on the wane. People do not want to have to take the time to pick out the non-travelogue posts in the way you suggest.

Are you suggesting that the 'travelogues' are intrinsically related to the game of Scrabble? Yes, they both relate to language but, critically, Scrabble is confined on this site to English, French and Italian only ie other languages are not relevant.

You are so right, Mistertoad. I'm sorry I did not see your remarks before making my post yesterday - probably because the forum is so full of travelogues etc.

No, Im not suggesting that, and I think you linking the shortage of new posts to the prevalence of the travel pieces is a bit of a leap.

Fair comment. Certainly I don't have statistics to back up my conjecture. I still think it would be far better to have a new CATEGORY for the 'Hello' posts as I do not think they belong in 'Creative Corner'.

@mistertoad Or just change the title!

In which case one is still filling up the 'Creative Corner' with lots of posts which obstruct members discussing the Scrabble game. I am advocating an easy solution which would keep everyone happy - a new CATEGORY with a title which evokes the new theme ... unrelated to Scrabble. For example:

                    LANGUAGES AROUND THE WORLD
                    WORLDWIDE WORDS
                    MISCELLANEOUS
                    HELLO!

Seems an excellent solution to me.

@mistertoad I see nothing wrong with this, but on the other hand I don't see that it solves the problem, if the problem is "too many posts about travel and customs, and not enough about the game." No matter what the category is, if they keep posting this stuff it is going to be there in the "recent posts" list every day. From my perspective this makes no difference, because my usual mode of interaction with the forum is to look below the lobby and note the recent posts. Category doesn't seem to make a difference. I suppose maybe it does, for people who use the forum differently.

As you say, if 'Creative Corner' is deluged with travelogue posts then checking 'Recent Posts' gets swamped too - I find this irritating too. As you no doubt realise, I was looking for a compromise 🙂

@thatguythere202 Yes ...and if the forum was used correctly... as in you have a choice to read the multicultural posts...or not, as you can ignore them ...I don't see what the issue is.

@mistertoad I already told you, extremely clearly (including screenshots), how to fix this. Yet you're still complaining.

                              Go here:

                              https://forum.lexulous.com/category/3/creative-corner

Change the dropdown box from 'watching' to 'ignoring'.

                              There's your compromise.

It is "extremely clear" that your fixes do not solve the problem. For your information I was not complaining but simply replying to 'thatguythere202'.
